I have issues, too. But at the same time, the pledge is to the country and the flag is the symbol of the country. And the country is a separate entity from whoever happens to be running it at the time. I remember when Nixon (the President) tried to equate himself with the Presidency (the institution) and that didn't fly. Just always remember that dissent is itself patriotic. It's all about trying to make our country a better place. I understand. I have issues, too. But at the same time, the pledge is to the country and the flag is the symbol of the country.
