This may not seem like a big deal, but I am so proud because I installed the air conditioner by myself! Well, Sky helped me lift it into the window, but I took out the old one and got this one set up.
I decided not to install central heat and air because 1) It’s expensive, and 2) I’ve heard that window units (mine are EnergyStar) are more energy efficient. It is certainly easy to close up parts of the house and turn some of them off.
Anyway, I ended up with four old window units laying around the property. One of my neighbors came by and asked if he could have them. I said, “Sure,” since it was a total blessing having them hauled away for free. It turns out that they have copper wiring in them and are worth about $25 apiece. It worked out for both of us!
I am now “moved in”, although I am not fully moved out of the apartment. I still have some work to do around here before I can bring over the rest of my stuff. I’m not even going to go into all the little hassles of moving, other than to say I don’t want to do it again for a really long time!
The house is just lovely. I have a lot of work to do, but I really, really love it.

I admire this very much! And your place looks awesome. I hope you’ll show us lots of photos, once you’re settled. Moving is horrible!!
Yay! I’m so impressed! I can’t wait to see more! And having more than one unit makes all the difference! My parents rented a house once that only had one, in the living room. Well, I was so tired of my family’s company by the end of that summer!
Cool! I’m glad to see you are settling in well.
Nice work. I can’t even wire a plug…
I’m excited for you! Looking forward to seeing more pictures (of course!)
Yippee! Your in and you did a fantastic job on the installation. You have every right to be proud of yourself. Looking forward to seeing more of the new place.
