Recreating the Florida Keys

When I was in high school, I had the good fortune of living in the Florida Keys. My parents and I lived with my grandparents in their huge house located right smack dab on it’s own private beach. When we moved back to Nowhere, Texas, I went kicking and screaming pretty much all the way. My mother seemed okay with the move at the time, but one look at her house now, and I can see how much she misses the beach. Here in rural Texas, her house is decorated in a nautical theme. If you closed your eyes and drove up to her house, kept your eyes closed while you walked up the walkway and through the door, you’d swear you were in Florida or the Caribbean by the decor. She seriously misses the ocean. The decor helps her miss it less, I suppose. It’s really nice, the way she’s done things.

I’ve found a source for
nautical gifts that will come in handy the next time I’m looking for a gift for her. American Marine Supply has clocks, compasses and all sorts of marine related things. Although, maybe the best thing to do would be to include a plane ticket with the gift.
