Dumpster Diving

I’ve been wanting new couches for the longest time. I have a chaise lounge and a loveseat with a slipcover. It has felt…lacking. So yesterday, Sage and I went to walk the dog, and saw a couch and one of huge chairs that is almost as big as a loveseat (I forget what they’re called…) in and next to the dumpster. I practically stood on my head getting to one of the cushions that had been tossed away. Thankfully, they were on top of all the clothes that had been thrown out, and a television that I couldn’t reach.

Sage and I pulled them away from the dumpster and the guys who are painting our apartment moved them in for me. They are olive green, and have nice lines like the ones you see at Pottery Barn. They aren’t “cheap and ugly” at all. They don’t even have stains. The back of the couch does have a rip and some wear where it was dragged along the ground. Thankfully, that part is against the wall. Pics later!

I just can’t get over what people throw away. Sage and I regularly see perfectly useable clothes sitting on top of the stuff in the dumpster. Right now, the back of my car is filled with bags of clothes that we have “rescued” and are taking to the local women’s shelter thrift shop. Stuff we’ve kept besides the couches includes a bedside table, a soft-case cat carrier and a freezer bag for the car. Sage is excited whenever we go near the dumpster now.
