I just have to complain. I’ve been trying to have healthier things in the house for Sage and I to eat. Good grief it’s expensive! We stopped by the HFS, and it was $20 for some almond butter and a couple of snacks that Sage wanted. But the thing that really gets me is the berries. Everyone says that berries are one of the healthiest things you can eat. I think they are also one of the tastiest, so almost every night, I make berries for desert. Sometimes I’ll cook some up and put them on top of pancakes or waffles as well. The thing is, I figured out how much money I am spending on berries and it is in the neighborhood of $100 a month! There is definitely a reason why people give their kiddos Little Debbie cakes for dessert.

I need a garden.

I KNOW! Ashley and her boyfriend are vegans and buy very healthy stuff at a co-op in Seattle. It is horribly expensive!!

Oh, and I live in berry land up here–but only in the summertime. I adore them too. My favorites are blueberries and marionberries.

It’s been awhile since I went with the SO to shop for groceries. I was absolutely shocked! Prices for fruits and most of the things I consider healthy food has risen 25% in the past year. The quality of fruit has also decreased considerably. Peaches were hard as rocks and the grapes were moldy.

It’s no damned wonder the bulk (heh) of our population is so overweight. Eating healthy is simply not affordable. Notice that the food donation bins around the holidays are full of pasta and Top Ramen and the like.

On anothe subject, I absolultely LOVE your animated b&w kitty!
