Sage and I have been checking out the Rosetta Stone trial software. We learned that the words for cat in Vietnamese, Chinese and Thai all have the sound “Mao” in them. So does this mean that when cats talk in those countries, they are constantly saying “Cat, cat”? I also started wondering why Chairman Mao had the name of a cat, more or less. The Chinese word for cat sounds a lot like “itchy mouth”. Only it’s more like “ee chee mou”. Something like that. Varmint has a new nickname. Come here, itchy mou!

I’ve always loved the fact that there are people in China that are kind of called ‘Meow’, but I’ve never wanted to use it for a character in case people associate it with the chairman.
