I actually dream pretty regularly of the interior of houses. They vary -- sometimes it's room after room of lovely woodwork and windows, and other times the rooms are as shabby and messy as you can imagine, with old towels or blankets as closet doors and scuffed old steps. In many cases there is a closed off room that is utterly destroyed -- like the floor had exploded or something. They feel familiar in the dream, but when I wake up I realize that they aren't. And sometimes the detail is astounding. (Where did that niche-room with the dusty piano with the yellow keys come from?) Often I stand at a window and watch the people outside. I suppose that could be pretty easily analyzed - inside peering out.

I have dream locations of real places. Places I know in real life but are strangely a bit off in my dreams. So, I know it's Seattle or Berkeley, but it's not exactly the same as in real life. The look of dream Seattle never changes.

But, I also dream of places that I've never been. Places that stay the same from dream to dream. And once, I actually drove through one of these dream towns in real life and recognized it immediately.

Ashley was an intense dreamer, and often wondered about death--at the age of 5. I should have known then what a deep person she was. (and did) I often visit places in my dreams that look familiar. But I think it's just my dream state because I've never actually visited anyplace like them.

I've had repetitive dreams before and it is my belief that when we have those we are trying to work through or solve something. When the subconscious solves the problem the dreams will shift. Peace and love, JP/deb (p.s. for Sage, you may want to consider finding a child therapist who can help him work through some of the feelings surrounding his dreams. Just a thought.)

My dreams often contain their own memories, which I sometimes interpret within the dream as, "I've dreamt this before." or "This is something that happened when I was awake." But when I wake up, I realise that they're not real memories - sometimes with a little difficulty.

I never dream about the same thing twice, though. Even my spider dreams are always different.

My dreams are mostly like movies or plays where I'm working through some problem. I've never had a familiar place I've visited repeatedly. Most of my dreams involve dead relatives who interact with me as I weave some aspect of my daily life I've been worrying about into the story.

Thank you so much for the kind words you left about Tommy. They mean a lot to me.

I don't remember my dreams usually except the dreamt hat I always dream when I have a fever, which is that odd visual of lines moving perpendicular across a plane. Like an animated spyrograph but no designs... I can't explain it.

My Jane is obsessed with issues of Life and Death, too. And she actually has been for a long time, but especially now since our neighbor's 17-year-old was killed in a car accident. This is not without its funny moments. Here's a few:

That happens to me too. And I return to those places every once in awhile in my dreams. Most of the times they are variations of places I know well, like my hometown, or the city where my grandmother lives. I am always walking around in those dreams...never driving. I'm always walking around and looking at all the scenery and what I didn't notice before. And I can totally visualize these areas right now if I sit still long enough to think about it.
