Shimmies

Really, it is very amusing to see one’s seven-year-old little macho dude doing shoulder and hip shimmies. He was doing it when he thought I wasn’t looking. My DVD, pictured above, arrived today, and it is really good. I think it is the first exercise video I have ever bought that feels intuitive. I did about twenty minutes of it, and then greatly enjoyed watching the rest from the chaise lounge. Sage sat there and made comments like, “Wow, they are really good!”

To counterbalance the mimicry effect, I also ordered a breakdance DVD. He is counting down the days on that one and meanwhile is practicing handstands. Also, he has baseball tryouts on Saturday, and has been practicing pitching and all that guy stuff. A stark contrast to the shoulder shimmies.

The DVD comes with a music CD, which is cool. I already listen to whatever Middle Eastern music that I can get my hands on. Sky jokingly calls it terrorist music, and tells me that the authorities will be looking for me soon.

Stubeh “broke up” with me. I feel really relieved. I felt scared to break that connection for many reasons. I was being a bitch, although not on purpose, and I really can’t blame him at all. Thank you all for your resolution wishes! They must have worked–that or my bitchalicious performance of the past few weeks.

My mother, who is usually very helpful and supportive, gave me a hard time yesterday. She told me to suck in my stomach when I was already wearing control-top pantyhose. I couldn’t suck it in! Then she gave me a book that tells how to be an effective single parent. The book says not to date or have sex until your kids are twenty-one. This sounds fine in theory, but Sage is seven. Do the math.

Shake shimmy shake. Hmm.

That video looks like a fun way to exercise. Our older daughter is a huge fan of that type of music also–did belly dance for a couple of years, and now does Orissi. (Indian dance) She loves it!

Oh, you’re so ahead of me. I got a stretching dvd two weeks ago and I’ve yet to even open it! :D

Belly dancing sounds like fun! I had my Turkish students trying to teach me (the girls obviously). Some of them were really good and seemed to be able to shake their bodies in ways mine just doesn’t seem to want to shake!

I did. I have you as being 39 at that point. What’s the problem?

    ;-)
